Water Resources

Water is vital for ecosystem ,agriculture and human health . It supports biodiversity and is a key factor in climate regulations .Around 2 billion people lack access to safe  drinking water. The global water crisis is  exacerbated by climate change, pollution,  and over-extraction. Addressing these  challenges is vital for the health of our  planet and its inhabitants. Understanding its sources helps us manage water resources effectively and ensure that future generations have access to this precious resource.Water resources refer to the sources of water that are useful or potentially useful for various human activities, including drinking, agriculture, industry, and energy production. Water resources are unevenly distributed across the planet, with some regions having abundant water supplies and others facing scarcity. The availability of water depends on factors such as climate, geography, and human activities.About 97.5% of the Earth’s water is saline, found in oceans and seas, leaving only 2.5% as freshwater. Of this freshwater, approximately 68.7% is locked in glaciers and ice caps, 30.1% is groundwater, and only about 1.2% is surface water and other accessible forms of freshwater., arid and semi-arid regions, such as deserts and certain inland areas, often face water scarcity.
